I seen it. I seen it.
It was good movie. People will take it as stone cold fact though, and that's anal sex between two males.
People are stupid.

I'd like to see it. Bowling for Columbine was pretty good. I liked the Kmart bullet scenes. The rotund boy started acting all "empowered." It cracked me up.

I liked Bowling for Columbine, and I like Michael Moore's earlier, less commercial work. Of course, everyone should go in knowing that he edits his pieces very liberally and intentionally. I know he was trying to make a point that we live in a violent culture that solves its problems with guns, but bringing in the "coincidence" that Clinton bombed Bosnia the same day as the Columbine massacre is misleading. I felt like the foreign policy montage in the middle of it, while entertaining, was a bit of a stretch for me. Yes, we did bad things historically to other countries, but I didn't think it really had a place in that particular movie. His films are all somehow related, and I feel like sometimes he gets his views mixed up, like a term paper in the wrong order.
His films are obviously metaphorical and more meant to make "big picture" statements than actual connections, but like Warren said, don't come out of there going, "really? the NRA IS the KKK?" It's meant to be poetic. I got nothing against Michael Moore, cuz he may be a screaming fool, but he's MY screaming fool, and the Dems need that to counter the idiots like Coulter and O'Reilly out there with just as loud a voice.
We couldn't get into Fahrenheit 911 (by the way, I heard Bradbury's pissed and is threatening to sue him) so we saw "Control Room" instead, about Al-Jazeera. Fascinating look at the media frenzy in Iraq, although I didn't agree with some of it, I think it is something else that should be checked out but will be lost in all the F911 frenzy.

I saw F911 last night. All I can say is....WOW. This movie is so fucking...IMPORTANT. Michael Moore may have his critics for taking things out of context or making big leaps in logic, which I did notice on a couple things, but those were just the details. What is more important is his overarching statement, which is that this fucker in office is killing a lot of young men right now needlessly. i'm sorry to step on my soapbox because I know you guys hate my politics in here, but in all seriousness, you will leave that theatre fucking ANGRY. My cousin was shipped out again a month ago, six months after he came home after being in Baghdad, and he should be arriving in Fallujah, the most dangerous part of Iraq right now, momentarily. And let me tell you something - the troops are stretched so thin, and right now they are just starting to send BACK the guys who originally conquered Baghdad, and I think you will see things get nasty there. These guys are hardened by their 1st experience, they don't want to be back there, and they aren't all fresh and newly-trained. They're gonna be pissed, and it's gonna show. I'm not saying this to dis the troops, because I have the utmost respect for them. But Moore's most important statement is, we owe it to the troops not to risk their lives unless ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY.
Bush plays to the military like he's their Guardian Angel, but in reality, he has cut their pay, cut their healthcare benefits, is re-enlisting retired troops, and already sending BACK the first round of troops.

My friend from back home is part of that rally. He went over in February. He just went back about a month ago. But, of course, he is a Marine...so that is expected for him to go first.
I really want to see that movie. Thing is, my roommate claims to be a hardcore republican who has no idea what the hell it means to be a hardcore republican and I want to drag her to open her eyes.
She is a bush-lover (and I don't mean it like Cheese would) and is completely ignorant to why she loves him so much. Her parents do, so she has to.
I'm not sure if she knows how political the movie is and maybe I can trick her into it.

The thing is, the patriotic Bush-loving fuckers are the ones who need to see this movie THE MOST. They are in total denial as to what war really looks like. Outside the theatre were a bunch of 18 year old private school kids handing out Bush/Cheney stickers. I went up to them. I said, if you're so supportive, why don't you give up your little Yale acceptance and fuckin enlist? I'll get a recruiter here right now. What? Yeah, that's right, I didn't think so. Because you don't know what war really is.
The footage of soldiers is SO IMPORTANT. They talk to guys over there who say when you take a life, no matter if the person was enemy or civilian, it steals a part of your soul. There are 20 year old guys coming back without any legs. That is something you just can't spin. Guys crying over killing people and having their limbs blown off, showing guys screaming out after being wounded and their insides falling out, it's not a fucking Ridley Scott movie. I don't know how you could call that anything but straightforward-how-it-is. It's ruining young guys's lives who have no control over where they go to serve, they just follow orders to get a college education and have a career.
So I told those fuckin douchebag kids who are 100% behind the war but are more than happy to let working-class kids do the fighting for them, I hope you DO go over there, and I hope you get your balls shot off.
A little story that maybe not a lot of people heard about was that this week Bush called up retired and discharged military guys for service. My uncle is a retired Marine, so this means he may get called up to go with his son.
I ask you this: if we are doing so well over there, why have we already used up all our active troops, all our National Guardsmen, all our Reservists, and now we are calling up retirees? They are also recruiting like crazy all over the country. In fact, in a ghetto neighborhood near my apartment last weekend, I saw a couple Marines walking around talking to kids. They're desperate. And that is not good - it means a draft is not far off. And hey, it's happened before.
If Bush wins again, or if there is a draft, I'm gonna fuckin riot. I think we should all go nuts. These are guys our age, people!

The eagle has landed. I repeat, the eagle has landed.
I took my roommate to see this movie and now she is fully aware that this 'president' she is supporting, is a complete idiot.
Her words exactly: "I'm moving to Canada. Wait, first I am going to vote for Kerry, THEN move to Canada."
Fucking finally.

and Kerry, that guys fucked up more than bush. uuuumm....how so, Pete? examples? ways in which Kerry is NOT fucked-up: 1. has been in the Senate for more years than Bush was Governor and President combined; 2. an avid environmentalist and an expert on foreign policy, as well as going to bat for many major healthcare and education issues; 3. Things he did to earn his medals (a bronze star, a silver star, and 3 purple hearts) in Vietnam: - in a matter of a split second, turned on a Vietcong who was about to shoot one of his men and shot him point-blank, saving his platoon. - while manning a patrol boat, went back into heavy fire to rescue one of his men, which he did so by yanking the guy out of the water with one arm, aka, leaving no man behind. 4. Having the balls to come home and speak out against the very war he fought in. Despite this, many of the guys he commanded in Vietnam stand by him and campaign for him today. 5. Before he entered the Senate, was the top prosecutor in Massachusetts, created the first rape crisis crime unit in the District Attorney's office, and took on organized crime and put the #2 Mob boss behind bars, which takes some balls I'd say. How do I know all this? I used to work for the guy in my home state, Massachusetts, and I'd do it again in a heartbeat. I also think the Presidency should be based on merit, experience and insight, not on the crap that a lot of Americans vote for, like how "good" he makes us feel about ourselves, or the cutesy little terms he comes up with. I'd trust this guy to go to bat for me before I'd trust some guy who's daddy bought him an oil company, which he ran into the ground, along with several others. Paid for by John Kerry for President

I just was giving you a reason, Pete. If someone from AFI was a Kerry supporter, I feel like that might sway you. I took a chance on Blink. oh well.
