I have a question, maybe someone can answer this for me soon. I just shucked some corn (sounds pornographic, but it had nothing to do with sex) and the corn inside is purple! Is there something wrong with it? Can I still eat it? or did I just get the wrong kind of corn?

Hey L...I have cooked corn many times before and I never got purple corn!
According to some website, "In cool, wet springs, we receive reports of "purple corn." Many corn hybrids turn purple as a response to stress. Some causes of purple corn are low soil phosphorus and poor root-system development. Usually, when the stress is removed, the plants turn green again."
I didn't see anywhere about eating it....I would take it back to the store or just throw it out.

If it is purple is is most likely an indian corn. Indian corn comes in many different colors. They are edible, but we americans like the yeller kind. Indian corn is used basically for decoration or what not. My suggestion, eat it. Its fucking corn.

How would one go about 'shucking' corn? .....where are you from? lol To 'shuck' corn you take off the husk, the green part and the hair thingys inside of that. a cooking preparation that most ppl don't do. but in my family its tradition! my mom buys about 12-16 dozen ears of corn in the summer, we shuck it and she cooks it all and freezes it for the winter. she even rations it so it lasts all winter. Ah Indiana folk...
