It is on behind me, and quite frankly I'm too lazy to get up and turn the channel.

I find it depressing that there is a swimsuit competition. I'm not a femi-nazi that thinks it degrades women. I don't typically mind it in the Miss America/Miss Universe competitions but it is fucked up to parade 16 year old girls around in skimpy bikinis in front of pervy old men to "judge." Surely 16 year old's should not be critiqued on their bodies that haven't even developed fully. Modern Western society sickens me

I agree...I just put it on, and they are in the middle of the "evening gown" competition. I heard this year they took out the Talent Competition in Miss America. Did anyoe else hear this??

It is 2004 - WHY do we still have these competitions??

Yeah its pretty ridiculous. You could kind of accept the swimsuit competition because at least it was balanced out by something of actual merit. Now that they've done away with that its really just glorified stripping.
