Jesus, I need a job. I'm going to college in the fall, and my dad keeps telling me he can't afford it, so I need a job soon if I plan on going. He makes me angry. Not because I need a job, but because he keeps telling me like I don't know. And he acts like it's easy to get a job. I'm only 17, that eliminates a lot of possibilities right there. He tells me I need to make a cover sheet for my applications and I need to staple my report card to it and yada yada. Apparently I would need to provide info about myself and what I have done, but I haven't done anything. I've never had a job, I haven't done volunteer work, I was barely in any extracurricular stuff in school....and I'm sick of being turned down every where I go. It sucks. Sigh. Any suggestions from anyone on how I could get a job?

I just did Sears, LS Ayres, and Blockbuster online. Sears and Blockbuster turned me down already, but the ayres one was different. It was more like just setting up an interview...it didnt really have any personal info. So maybe I can get an interview for there. I've tried tons of places before. Sam goody, circuit city, best buy, the buckle, suncoast, gap, petsmart....probably more I have forgotten about

Twirly eye, I dont know you. You very well may be someone that I do know that has changed their name, as that happens alot, so if I do know you, I apologize for not recognizing your unique writing style.
Anywho, have you tried any movie theaters? They hire alot of people during the summer because they have more customers (patrons, they made us call them when I worked there) during the summer. It isnt the greatest job in the world, but you get to see the movies before they are made available to the public and you get neat posters and stuff like that. So, if you havent tried it, it's worth a shot.

So, you are a new person. As I was going through some of the other threads, I realized this. I didnt want to come back and recant my initial reaction to you, because then it wouldnt be pure. I will from now on catch up on the posts before I start to respond.
Nice to meet you as well, but just like 'noshit', I hate you. Keeding! I enjoy everyone!

What the fuck? Why is it other people can go back and forth with others and I do it and I get called out on it? I make it a point to try and not go back and forth because I was called out on it before. Shit, what is the point of responding to someone if they are restricted in their response? Fuck that. I have seen many a thread where the whole thing is back and forth (PETE! MANDAH!) GAH!
I agree that it is annoying and obnoxious, but I was actually saying things. It wasnt just 'yea...haha Pete...you stole my no comment comment' THAT was obnoxious back and forth. I was conducting myself with proper message board etiquette. Fuck everything.

Hey guys...it's a bitch finding your first job - people want experience but how the hell are ya supposed to get it??
HisEyeTwirls...since your dad is being a pain in the ass about you getting a job - does he have a suggestion for you? How about HIS job - do they have any kind of part-time position for you? Anyway, my first job was in the food court in the mall - not glamorous but it was $$$. I made tacos and also dished out Chinese food. (yum)
What about places like FYE or Coconuts or other CD/music stores? I was a manager at Record Town/Coconuts back in the day and it was flexible hours (with nice discounts!)
Anyway, good luck! (Mandah too!)
