for future reference (i.e. next summer) you can make mad loot lifeguarding. way more than with retail. you just gotta invest a few hundred bucks in a CPR training course first, which is good for a few summers at least. I started lifeguarding the summer after I graduated high school, did it for 3 summers, and man do I miss getting paid to sit next to a pool and get a tan all day. at no other time in your life will you be able to do that. so enjoy it now. plus, hello - your job is essentially to check people out. and no one can tell what you're lookin at behind sunglasses  |

Well, apparently one of my dad's friends is going to give me a job when I turn 18. I will have to drive a forklift and stuff like that....but I'll get $8 an hour, so I guess it isn't too bad. I'm not really into manual labor though...oh well. A job is a job I guess...btw thanks for everyone's advice

You aint gotta be doin' no manual labor shit at 17. You can find something better, I'm sure. At 18, you can go work at your local Blockbuster per Mandah. Why would you want to drive a forklift? You and your dad could make a game out of it. Which ever of you losers gets offered a job first, you get to turn it down and the other is forced to get a job and support the unemployed one. Yes! That's it! Go make that deal with him now.

I think "noshit" will agree with me here in saying that "job huntin' aint easy"...just like pimpin'. I was looking/applying for work for over a year, on and off. On and off is the main key here, so if you keep looking for work and call the places back youre bound to get a job somewhere. Good luck.  |

My first job was at a candle factory. By the end of the day I smelled like a candle and you could have stuck a wick in my head and burned me.
At my current job there is a nurse who runs and skips around the office, and clicks her pen repeatedly througout the day. I'm debating having her tested for cocaine abuse, or punching her in the chest.
I kicked ass and took names at an interview today.
